Who’s Hot and Who’s Not: Week 4

After an off week for International play, the Premier League returned with a boom. Some big match ups, and even bigger performances set the stage for this week’s Who’s Hot and Who’s Not…

drogba

HOT: Didier Drogba

With 4 goals and 3 assists to start the season, Drogba has provided a consistent threat at the head of Chelsea’s offense this season. The injury woes of recent seasons have made us forget about the quality of play that the striker brings, but thus far this season, he has looked healthy and as dangerous as ever. Chelsea fell behind yet again this past weekend, but another goal from the Ivorian put Chelsea back on top, and helped the Blues remain atop the table.

Honarable mentions: Benayoun (Liverpool),  Adebayor (Man City), Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)

NOT: Manuel Almunia aluminum

Arsenal started the season red hot, with a 6-1 domination of Everton. But one question remained in my mind, will they be able to keep opponents from scoring? This question was answered over their past two games. The blame has fallen on the Gunner’s goalkeeper, as he took the brunt of the trashing handed down by Man City this past weekend. An own goal was also credited to the Spaniard, who has yet to record a clean sheet this season. Arsene Wenger has said that he will start his 2nd string net minder this week in their Champions League fixture. Maybe a day off is just what Almunia needs.

Dishonorable mentions: Jo (Everton), Boaz Myhill (Hull City), West Ham Offense
